Position Summary
A Private Investigator is responsible for conducting lawful investigations, gathering evidence, performing surveillance, interviewing witnesses, documenting findings, and preparing detailed reports for clients. Investigators work independently while maintaining regular communication with management to ensure every case is handled efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mobile and stationary surveillance.
- Gather evidence through observation, photography, and video documentation.
- Interview witnesses and obtain statements.
- Locate individuals, assets, and relevant information using investigative databases and public records.
- Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely investigative reports.
- Maintain complete case documentation and evidence.
- Follow all federal, state, and local laws governing private investigations.
- Communicate case updates with supervisors and clients as directed.
- Testify in court when required.
- Protect confidential client information at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Private Investigator registration or the ability to obtain one.
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in Criminal Justice is a plus).
- Previous investigative, law enforcement, military, loss prevention, insurance, or security experience is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong observation and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
