About Us

Terrance Private Investigator & Associates is a leading private investigation firm serving clients nationwide. We provide professional investigative services for individuals, attorneys, businesses, and insurance professionals, specializing in infidelity investigations, criminal defense support, surveillance, background checks, asset searches, missing persons, and complex investigative assignments. Our reputation is built on integrity, discretion, professionalism, and delivering results that matter. Every investigation is handled with precision, thorough documentation, and a commitment to helping our clients get answers and uncover the truth.

As our firm continues to grow across multiple markets, we are seeking a Marketing Director to own how the firm is found, understood, and chosen. Marketing an investigative firm is not like marketing anything else. You are selling a service clients are often reluctant to talk about, to two very different audiences, without ever compromising the discretion that is the product. We are looking for a marketing leader who can build demand and reputation across markets while respecting that a private investigation firm advertises inside real legal and ethical lines. If you can grow a brand you can never fully show off, we would like to hear from you.

Position Overview

This is a full-time salaried leadership position reporting to firm ownership. The Marketing Director owns strategy and execution across brand, digital presence, lead generation, referral and B2B relationships, and content, serving both the firm's consumer clients and its attorney, insurance, and corporate accounts. The role manages the marketing budget, external vendors and agencies, and any internal marketing staff, and is accountable for measurable growth in qualified inquiries and retained business across all markets. This is primarily an in-office and hybrid role with periodic travel between markets for events, client relationships, and market development.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive marketing experience, including 2 years in a leadership or director-level role owning strategy and budget
  • Demonstrated success generating qualified leads and measurable revenue growth, ideally in professional services, legal, insurance, security, or another trust-driven field
  • Command of digital marketing, including SEO, paid search, paid social, local search, and web analytics
  • Proven B2B marketing and referral development experience, particularly with attorneys, insurance carriers, or corporate clients
  • Experience managing marketing budgets, external agencies, and vendor relationships to measurable outcomes
  • Strong content and brand judgment; able to write and direct copy that builds trust rather than hype
  • Fluency with marketing technology, CRM, marketing automation, analytics, and reporting platforms
  • Working understanding of advertising compliance and the discretion constraints of a regulated professional service
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Ability to pass a background check and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Preferred: experience marketing legal, insurance, security, financial, or investigative services
  • Preferred: hands-on capability across web, creative, and analytics rather than reliance on vendors for everything

Equipment & Resources

The firm provides the tools required for the role:

  • Workstation, mobile device, and full access to firm systems
  • Marketing budget with authority to allocate within an approved plan
  • CRM, marketing automation, analytics, and reporting platform access
  • Creative, web, and advertising vendor and agency relationships
  • Mileage reimbursement or vehicle allowance for market development travel

Core Responsibilities

  • Own the firm's marketing strategy across all markets and translate it into a measurable plan with clear targets
  • Build and manage the firm's digital presence, including website, SEO, local search, paid media, and social channels
  • Generate qualified consumer inquiries and B2B leads, and build the pipeline reporting that shows what is working
  • Develop and maintain referral and account relationships with attorneys, insurance carriers, TPAs, and corporate clients
  • Direct brand, positioning, and messaging that convey trust, discretion, and results across distinct audiences
  • Plan, produce, and govern content, including web copy, case-outcome material, thought leadership, and educational resources, without disclosing confidential client information
  • Own the marketing budget, forecast spend, and report return on investment to ownership
  • Select and manage agencies, freelancers, and vendors, and hold them accountable to results
  • Build and lead any internal marketing staff as the function grows
  • Manage online reputation, reviews, directory presence, and the firm's response to public feedback
  • Ensure all advertising and public claims comply with applicable advertising law and state private security advertising and licensing disclosure requirements
  • Track, analyze, and report marketing performance, attribution, and cost per acquisition to leadership
  • Coordinate with operations and intake so marketing volume matches the firm's capacity to deliver
  • Represent the firm professionally at industry, legal, and referral events across markets
  • Protect the firm's brand and the confidentiality of its clients in every public-facing decision

Channels & Focus Areas

The role spans the full marketing function across both audiences the firm serves:

Search engine optimization and local search · Paid search and paid social · Website and landing page strategy · Content and thought leadership · Attorney and legal referral development · Insurance and SIU account marketing · Corporate and B2B outreach · Reputation and review management · Directory and listing presence · Email and CRM nurture · Brand and creative direction · Event and community presence · Analytics, attribution, and reporting

Depth in legal or insurance B2B marketing and in local service SEO is strongly valued.

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Strategic and hands-on, able to set the plan and also ship the work when the situation calls for it
  • Command of digital marketing and analytics; you make decisions from data, not from opinion
  • Strong writing and editorial judgment; you can produce trustworthy copy and kill copy that overpromises
  • The discipline to market a discreet service without ever compromising client confidentiality or firm integrity
  • B2B relationship instinct; comfortable in a room with attorneys and adjusters and able to earn referral trust
  • Budget discipline and accountability for return on every marketing dollar
  • Sound judgment on advertising and licensing compliance, and the instinct to check before publishing a claim
  • Ability to manage vendors and staff to outcomes rather than activity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional attention to detail on claims, data, and brand consistency
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism; you will know sensitive things about the firm and its clients
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage concurrent initiatives across multiple markets
  • Calm under pressure and adaptable as markets, channels, and priorities shift
  • Reliable, dependable, and responsive in all communications
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ownership of the firm's growth

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform sustained focused screen and computer work for extended periods
  • Ability to travel between markets and attend events, including occasional evening and weekend engagements
  • Ability to drive for extended periods during market development travel
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry marketing materials or event equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation

What We Offer

  • Full ownership of the marketing function, you build it and it is yours
  • Competitive salary based on experience and marketing leadership background, plus performance incentive tied to growth
  • Budget authority and direct access to ownership, with real influence on firm direction
  • A distinctive brand challenge in a field where trust and discretion are the entire value proposition
  • Established client base and referral relationships to build on rather than start from zero
  • Advancement track within a growing multi-market firm
  • A professional environment where marketing is treated as a growth driver, not an afterthought

Compensation Structure

Compensation includes a competitive base salary commensurate with marketing leadership experience and scope, plus performance incentive tied to qualified lead generation, retained business, and marketing return on investment. Total compensation is discussed during the interview process. Mileage reimbursement or vehicle allowance is provided for market development travel.

Standards & Professional Conduct

The Marketing Director shapes how the firm presents itself to the public and holds sensitive knowledge of the firm and its clients, and is expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity, discretion, and compliance. This includes full compliance with applicable advertising law, state private security advertising and licensing disclosure requirements, truthfulness in all public claims about the firm's services and results, and strict protection of client confidentiality in all marketing content and public communication. The Marketing Director must never disclose client identities or case details without documented authorization, never publish a claim about the firm's capabilities or outcomes that cannot be substantiated, and must escalate any campaign, claim, or content that could raise a legal, ethical, or confidentiality concern before it goes public.
